On the 11th of April, together with Vice President Rainer Wieland, members of the RIE Advisory Board, Members of the European Parliament and leading thinkers on Europe, President Giscard d’Estaing launched Re-Imagine Europa and started a far-reaching debate on the strategic vision for the future of Europe.

Founded by President Giscard d’Estaing and promoting a clearer strategic vision for Europe, Re-Imagine Europa is a new research and advocacy vehicle designed to address 21st Century challenges to Europe’s economic prosperity and social well-being.

Our mission is to reinforce Europe’s role as a global economic power in the 21st Century able to safeguard a prosperous future of peace, freedom and social justice for all its citizens.

Starting from his own experience in building Europe – in particular his collaboration with Chancellor Helmut Schmidt – the discussion revolved around his perspective of what needs to be done and encourage a pragmatic and strategic debate in this sense that will be the cornerstone of the activities of Re-Imagine Europa.
