Dr. Karen Wagner is Head of International Relations at Acatech. Having held this position since 2010, she is responsible for Acatech’s international activities. In this regard, her work is dedicated to strengthening the global perception of the Academy as the voice of German technological sciences, including through cross-border scientific collaboration, so that national topics are addressed and discussed at European and global level and topics with global relevance are simultaneously identified and brought into the Academy. Karen also supports Platform Industrie 4.0 initiative led by Prof. Henning Kagermann and she is in charge of the administration of Acatech’s Berlin office.
In her scientific career, Karen has been investigating the correlations between nutrition and diseases of the metabolic syndrome and cancer since 2000. In addition, she has also worked on the acquisition of third-party funding and on the coordination of projects funded by the European Union’s research and innovation programmes.
Karen studied Nutritional Science at the University of Potsdam, completing her doctorate in 2005. She also holds a Master’s degree in Science Communication and Marketing.
