Ewa Łojkowska Portrait

Professor Ewa Lojkowska has taught at the University of Gdansk since 1994, where she is currently a full professor and Head of Department of Plant Protection and Biotechnology. She has also served as Vice-Dean (1996- 2002) and Dean (2005-2012) of the University’s Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology. Ewa has been the principal researcher in numerous national and international projects and is the author of approximately 150 articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

Ewa has also been intensively involved in science-society relations at the regional and international levels throughout her career. For example, she is currently President of the Polish Academy of Sciences Committee on Biotechnology. She has also served as Vice-President of the ScanBalt Association (2014-2019), President of the Polish Jury for the L’Oreal UNESCO for Women in Science award (since 2005), Member of the International Selection Committee for the L’Oreal UNESCO for Women in Science – International rising Talents (since 2014), and President of the Professor Waclaw Szybalski Foundation (since 2008).
