Andreas Weber Portrait

Professor Andreas Weber is Chair of the Institute of Plant Biochemistry at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. Earlier in his career, he held teaching research positions at universities in both the United States and Germany.

Andreas’ research is focused on photorespiration, C4 photosynthesis, and the regulatory principles that govern plant metabolic networks, while also providing a scientific basis and blueprints for synthetic biology approaches to maximize photosynthetic productivity.

In addition to his position at Heinrich Heine University, the leadership of various research consortia, and membership of editorial boards, Andreas also currently serves as President of the German Botanical Society. He is closely involved in the activities of the German Research Association and Leibniz Foundation.
