Antonio Loprieno is a renowned scholar in Egyptology, Linguistics and Semiology with a special interest in science management. From 2006 to 2015, he served as Rector of the University of Basel and from 2008 to 2015 he was the President of the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Universities (CRUS). He is currently Professor of History of Institutions at the University of Basel and has delved into the history of organisational structures of the international academic world. Since May 2018, he has been President of ALLEA and the Swiss Academy of Arts and Sciences.
